Crunchy peanut butter hemp bites for your Valentine

Valentines Day is just around the corner. I know many of you will want to indulge with chocolates, cinnamon hearts and other sugary items, but just in case you are looking for some healthy energy bites that taste great, I have created a recipe using some of my favourite ingredients.

There is something wonderful about the combination of peanut butter and banana. For me, it brings back fond memories of my Mum making me little peanut butter and banana sandwiches, which always hit the spot. Adding in some rice puffs and hemp hearts makes these crunchy peanut butter hemp bites a winner on the taste and the health scale. I hope you and your Valentine enjoy them. They didn’t last long in my house.

Peanut Butter-contains potassium, protein and fibre. This helps promote healthy bowel function and due to its healthy fat content it is good for you heart and helps to protect again Alzheimer’s disease and memory impairment

Banana-contains high levels of potassium and vitamin B6, C, magnesium and manganese. Bananas also can help with mood due to their high levels of tryptophan which is converted into serotonin, the happy-mood brain neurostransmitter.

Rice- low in calories, fat and sodium free, rice puffs are also a good source of fibre. They can be high on the glycemic index but being combined with peanut butter and hemp seed two powerful proteins allows you the crunch factor in these tasty bites

Hemp Hearts- an excellent source of essential fatty acids including Omega 3, 6, and GLA in the perfect balance. Hemp hearts are easily digested and a great plant-protein to add into your diet.
