Why not make your own healthy version of a Shamrock Shake
Shamrock shakes, bright green vanilla- mint shakes that are so popular at McDonald’s for St. Patrick’s Day.
To say these shamrock shakes are not very healthy is a bit of an understatement. Check out their ingredients and if you want, opt for my healthier version of a McDonald’s shamrock shake below.

Shamrock McCafe® Shake (Small)
VANILLA REDUCED FAT ICE CREAM: Ingredients: Milk, Sugar, Cream, Nonfat Milk Solids, Corn Syrup Solids, Mono- and Diglycerides, Guar Gum, Dextrose, Sodium Citrate, Artificial Vanilla Flavor, Sodium Phosphate, Carrageenan, Disodium Phosphate, Cellulose Gum, Vitamin A Palmitate. ( Contains Milk)
SHAMROCK SHAKE SYRUP: Ingredients: High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, Water, Sugar, Natural Flavor (Plant Source), Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Yellow 5, Blue 1.May contain small amounts of other shake flavors served at the restaurant, including egg ingredients when Egg Nog Shakes are available.
MARASCHINO CHERRY: Ingredients: Cherries, Water, Corn Syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Natural (Plant Source) and Artificial Flavors, Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate (Preservatives), Red 40, Sulfur Dioxide as Preservative (Contains Sulfites).
My Healthier Version of a Shamrock Shake full of healthy fats and protein filled nut milk- yum!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup full fat coconut milk (cold)
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/2 tsp peppermint flavour extract
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond or cashew milk (I like Silk brand)
- 1 tsp raw honey (more if you have a sweet tooth)
Directions
- Mix all ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup full fat coconut milk

- 3/4 cup Silk dark chocolate almond milk– if the almond milk you buy contains cane sugar you do not need to add a sweetener, if it has no sugar add in some honey
Directions
- Mix in high speed blender until smooth
